Hi! My name is Chai

I’m a PRC, Peer Navigator, & Mentor

Who Am I?

I am a transmasc/nonbinary queer person living on Kaurna land. I am disabled, neurodivergent, and have extensive lived experience in mental ill health and trauma recovery. I live with my partners and my greyhounds in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. I have a special interest in fungi, I love nature, and I am an extrovert.

What is a Peer Navigator?

A peer navigator is someone who uses their lived experience to help you work out your next steps in life, or help you work out how to stay afloat during harder times. A peer navigator is different to a standard support worker - a peer navigator always has lived experience in at least some of the things that impact your day to day life (eg. disability, neurodivergence, lifestyle).

Who I Support:

People who identify as both queer and neurodivergent and/or disabled, as well as people who offer support to this community.

Funding Options:

NDIS Funded: I can charge from a range of line items from different funding sections - get in touch to see if my support can fit into your plan.

Self Funded: I have a sliding scale of fees to ensure everyone can access this kind of support. My privately funded services start at $70/hr, and I also work for service and art trades when I can!

Situations where peer navigation might help;

  • You have been knocked back (by NDIS, the healthcare system, the housing system etc.) and need help processing this and working out your next steps.

  • You are also a peer support worker, and you are looking for guidance or supervision from someone experienced in the space.

  • You need support to attend important appointments or meetings from someone who understands your lived experience and who will help advocate for you.

  • You (or your child) need support to connect with social and community groups, especially those related to gender, sexuality and neurodivergence.

  • You are a support provider who does not have lived experience in a certain area (e.g. gender diversity, alternative lifestyles, neurodivergence) and you want guidance on better supporting clients who do.

  • You don’t even know where to start with therapy (eg psychology, counselling), and would like someone who has similar lived experience to you to help you set goals and find a therapist that actually works for you

And much, much more - please reach out about anything you think I could help you with.

I offer a free 15 minute ‘vibe check’ call or text chat to anyone interested in support, so don’t worry about all the details - I will handle that part with you if/when we decide to work together!

My Scope:

As a peer navigator, I can offer general guidance and support, but I am not a licensed therapist and my services are not a substitute for therapy or any other medical or allied health service.

How it works:

Just like everything else I do at The Queeriosity Project, my Peer Navigation work is delivered in a way that honours my fluctuating capacity. This means that my services are offered flexibly for both of us - I am available for bookings between 10am and 10pm on most days, and have a flexible cancellation policy. I often have capacity to take on last minute bookings, especially virtual ones, and am happy to accommodate shorter or longer sessions as your needs fluctuate.

If you would like to discuss accessing my services in this way, please use the ‘Express Interest in Support’ below to get in touch, and I will send you further information to get the ball rolling.
