The Queeriosity Project’s training and education arm offers lived experience and peer based education, with the goal of making disability support more inclusive of diverse lifestyles. It is everything I wish my providers had known about me when I started seeking support!
As a lived experience educator, I like to be very clear from the outset about what I am not, before we crack into what I am. I hold many relevant micro-credentials, have many clearances, and have years of varied lived experience - but I am not an allied health professional and am not a member of any such governing body. My trainings are for anyone, but they take a very social, peer-based approach that focuses upon shared stories and experiences, rather than a formal education. I am a firm advocate for this kind of learning, but I am always the first to admit when something is outside my scope, outside my experience, or requires a more professional/qualified response. My trainings are designed to complement formal education and give you helpful (and honestly, kinda cool) information to help inform your practice.
Please have a look below at our Frequently Asked Questions - I personally hate having to ask lots of clarifying questions when I am looking to learn or upskill, so hopefully, I have answered most things for you already!
Trainings
Rather than running training regularly, I instead run trainings when a) my capacity allows and b) I think enough new folk are keen to come along.
If you follow the Register Interest buttons below, you can fill out a very quick form telling me which training(s) you would like to attend, when usually suits you, and whether you would prefer online or in person. Then, when I book one in, you’ll get a cheeky email letting you know it’s available.
If you are a business (or group of like-minded learners) seeking a planned training, then you can also use the Register Interest button to get in touch. I am always keen to chat about tailoring your training to your group, to make sure you get the most out of your learning experience.
The larger the group you get together, the cheaper it will be. This reactive method of booking helps me move with my capacity and keep this resource available to my community long term.
Alternative Lifestyles Training
This training will help equip you to support people who are ethically non-monogamous (eg. polyamorous) and/or practice kink and BDSM in their intimate relationships. There is a large crossover between disabled, queer, and alternative lifestyle (AL) communities! You will also discuss the nuances and specifics of boundaries for providers when providing support related to these areas of life - in particular for providers that may also wish to engage with these communities.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do we teach?
In our training, we aim to teach you what you need to know in order to be truly supportive and affirming of the people you support. We cover terminology and language, and spend time tackling stigmas and stereotypes. We also cover how to ensure you can provide that support within the bounds of the NDIS, with practical and meaningful real life examples.
Who do we teach?
Anyone who resonates with our work is welcome at TQP. That being said, our trainings are best suited to NDIS providers and allied health professionals who want to step up their game when it comes to inclusivity. That includes support coordinators, support workers, OTs, DE's, physiotherapists, mental health professionals, and anyone else in a support based role. Friends, carers, and disabled folx are also welcome.
Who teaches it?
Our trainings are run by Chai, the founder of TQP. Chai is a lived-experience educator and only teaches on subjects they have personal experience with. Occasionally, other peer educators will assist with training. All training material has been reviewed by other members of the relevant communities, and great care has been taken to ensure that all information provided is up to date
Can I use this as CPD?
Maybe! It depends on which profession you need PD for, and what their requirements are. We are able to provide information on course content along with a completion certificate, which you can supply to your professions governing body. If you need anything else, I am super happy to help.
We are looking into certification from some governing bodies.
How much does it cost?
We want to make this content as accessible as possible. and that starts with making it affordable.
I am very lucky to be able to offer most of my training essentially ‘not for profit’ - I charge just enough to break even. If you see something you’re keen on but finances are a concern, please get in touch - we want you to join us, and we can work something out!
Where is training held?
We have lots of options, and can work with you on making sure at least one of them is accessible for you. We offer a lot of our training virtually, and when there is a call for it, in person in South Australia. I am also available to come to your business if there are enough of you who want to learn! Accessibility is the priority at The Queeriosity Project.
